The 1st, 5th, 6th, and 7th grade science students screened the school’s finished compost and added it to the hoop house beds. All of The Pathfinder School’s lunch scraps are collected daily and added to a maintained compost pile. The first graders were on hand to see what didn’t belong such as plastic spoons and straws and helped to pick them out. The 6th graders, who are studying decomposition, readily explained the process! It was a great day of learning, collaboration and use of our beautiful campus as a living, natural laboratory. Thanks to the wood shop class for making the compost screen!
